John is a business lawyer experienced in the areas of real estate, franchising, general corporate law (SEC-reporting and private), and corporate administration law. For years, he has provided counsel to businesses throughout the Dayton region.
John’s primary practice includes real estate matters, corporate formation, business transactions, securities, private placements, and franchising. His past experiences working in-house provides a broad base of experience in real estate, corporate, franchising, and general business transactions. He has substantial experience in ground leases, build-to-suit leases, leasing and subleasing and other real estate and title matters.
After earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting at The Ohio State University, John continued in Columbus, earning his juris doctorate from The Ohio State University College of Law. He is admitted to the Bar in Ohio and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.
John started his law career in Columbus working for a mortgage and investment company before moving to Indianapolis to provide counsel to what is now J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. In Dayton, he rose through the ranks, providing corporate real estate and later general counsel at Ponderosa, Inc., eventually earning the title of Senior Vice President. John then went on to help form Gottschlich & Portune, LLP, now Foos & Lentz, LLC.
A member of the Ohio State Bar Association as well as the Dayton Bar Association, in his free time John is also a member of the Rotary Club of Vandalia, Ohio.
